The purpose of the Paragould Police Department Special Weapons And Tactics team (SWAT) is to provide a team of professional and dedicated operators as a resource for the Paragould Police Department in the handling of dangerous incidents.

Currently, the team is comprised of 12 officers. We have one doctor and two medics as members of the team.

The Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T). is trained to respond to a wide variety of critical incidents which include the following:

• Barricade Situations
• Hostage Situations
• Sniper Situations
• High-Risk Apprehensions
• High-Risk Warrant Service
• Personal Protection
• Special Assignments
• Bomb Threats

The SWAT team is also utilized by area agencies to assist them in the above situations when requested.
