Are you an amateur radio operator? The Second Annual Swap Fest on the Ridge is a perfect opportunity for you to swap different used radio parts with other amateur radio operators. This event will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Crowley's Ridge State Park Pavilion 3 from 9AM-2PM. Food will be available, along with free admission and tailgating. Make plans now to join the Crowley's Ridge Amateur Radio Club!

2. Unleash Your Creativity

Get ready to make a splash as the Paragould Aquatic Center hosts an exciting and unconventional event: the Cardboard Boat Regatta! Set against the backdrop of laughter and friendly competition, this event promises a day of creativity, teamwork, and plenty of watery fun. Mark your calendars for April 27th at 10AM and join other creative engineers for a memorable adventure on the water.  To take part in the Cardboard Boat Regatta, simply register at the front desk of the Paragould Community Center. The registration fee is $20 per team.

3. Saddle Up for a New Adventure.

Grab your cowboy hat and slip on your boots for the inaugural Rodeo After Dark on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 9PM at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Get ready to experience a thrilling evening of rodeo action, featuring the finest athletes from across the Midsouth. 4. Take a Walk Down Memory Lane

Get ready to step back in time and immerse yourself in the timeless melodies of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn! On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 7:30PM, the Collins Theatre will come alive with the magic of country music's legendary duo. From classic hits to personal anecdotes, Twitty and Lynn's tribute is a heartfelt homage to their legendary grandparents, showcasing the enduring love and respect they hold for their musical heritage.  Tickets for this magical evening are $45.00 if purchased in advance and $50.00 on the day of the show.

5. Run, Walk, or Wag

Registration is now open for the NEA 1K featuring something for everyone. Yes, everyone! Whether you're looking for family-friendly fun, a chance to show off your creativity with a costume, or simply to enjoy a leisurely dog run, you can show your support for Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Arkansas. Join the fun on Saturday, May 4th from 4-7PM, at the Paragould Community Pavilion at Power Plant Park in Downtown Paragould for a day of excitement and camaraderie. Register or learn more here.

6. Unleash Your Inner Forager

Get ready for an immersive foraging experience amidst the breathtaking beauty of Lake Frierson State Park on Sunday, May 5th from 1-3PM. Join a guided hike where you'll delve into the fascinating world of foraging, learning about the basics and discovering common edible plants native to our region and their myriad uses. Stick around after the hike for A Spot of Tea, where you'll witness firsthand how foraged plants can be transformed into a soothing cup of tea. It's a delightful opportunity to unwind and savor the fruits of your foraging efforts. This program is part of Lake Frierson’s ongoing Women in the Woods Series, held on the first Sunday of every month.

8. Hit the Ground Running

Get ready to lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement for a race through the heart of Paragould on Saturday, June 1 at 7:30AM! Join Running on the Ridge for their 5K and 10K road race, where participants will traverse routes that wind through downtown Paragould and along a picturesque stretch of the 8-Mile Creek Trail. By participating, you'll also be making a meaningful contribution to a worthy cause. This year, the race will benefit the Henry Wrinkles Foundation, supporting their mission to make a positive impact in our community. Learn more here.

9. Reel in the Fun

Get ready to cast your lines and reel in the excitement because from noon on Friday, June 7th, until the stroke of midnight on Sunday, June 9th, 2024, both residents and non-residents alike can indulge in the joy of fishing across the beautiful waters of Arkansas—completely license-free! That's right, no fishing licenses or trout permits are required during this special weekend. While you enjoy this free fishing extravaganza, it's important to remember that all regulations for Arkansas waters remain in effect. This includes adhering to daily limits, slot limits, and length limits as stipulated by state law. So, whether you're angling for bass, catfish, or trout, be sure to fish responsibly and within the legal guidelines. There are plenty of great fishing spots including Reynolds Park, Crowley's Ridge State Park, and Lake Frierson State Park.
